Dhaka Implements Motorcycle Ban for Election Security (3 Days)
In Dhaka, Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced a restriction on motorcycle movement surrounding the upcoming 12th Jatiya Sangsad election. This measure, detailed in a circular issued by DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, aims to maintain order and safety during this critical period.
The ban will be effective from noon on January 6 until midnight on January 7. This temporary restriction is part of broader efforts to ensure a smooth and secure election process. While the ban affects the general public, certain exceptions are made.
Candidates, law enforcement agencies, armed forces, administrative officials, and polling agents are permitted to use motorcycles during this period.
This decision aligns with the Election Commission’s (EC) earlier directive, which also called for a three-day ban on motorcycle movement before and after the election.
These steps reflect the authorities’ commitment to conducting a fair and peaceful election, ensuring that the democratic process is upheld without any disruptions or safety concerns.
