New Video Streaming Service of Apple, Apple TV+, Rival to Netflix
Apple has revealed few details on its long-awaiting video streaming service. Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, and Steven Spielberg were part of the celebrity parade which also took the stage at the Apple’s event. The event had taken place in Cupertino, California at Apple’s headquarters. The main attraction of the event, of course, was the latest gadgets from the company.
Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive, gave a sneak peek on the company’s plan to transform the television viewing experience and jump where Netflix is the pioneer into the streaming business.
Apple TV+ will come in more than 100 countries this fall. The service will feature ad-free original films and series. Team Cook didn’t disclose the cost of the nascent streaming service. It is an extension of the company’s redesigned TV app which will be bundling third-party services like CBS, Showtime and HBO and also cable subscription to the user. Streaming services like Netflix and Hulu won’t partake.
The company was preparing for original programming for a few years now, and both Silicon Valley and Hollywood were eagerly waiting about it. Apple had laid aside around $1 billion to do so. But Apple was not the only company that will become rival to Netflix. Last year Netflix spent $12 billion on their content. Later this year, AT&T’s WarnerMedia and Wal Disney Co. will unveil its video streaming platform.
It will be a challenge for all of the streaming service platforms. The streaming service of Disney is named Disney-Plus and bears a plus-symbol like Apple TV+.
Cook didn’t disclose the extensiveness of Apple’s streaming library, but it has at least two dozens of series and a few movies in its list. The company has partnered with award-winning creative visionaries to create a service, unlike anything that ever existed.
