Windows defender is coming on MAC

Yesterday in a blog post-Microsoft has announced the arrival of Microsoft defender in MAC platform. Microsoft’s Windows defender ATP( Advanced Threat Protection) has been available only for windows user so far. This includes the licensing of Microsoft 365 suite, Windows 10 and enterprise tools under a single subscription. The software has threat and vulnerability management and automation in order to allow any company’s security team to push fixes during any problem. The software will be renamed as “Microsoft defender” in MAC platform. Generally, the ATP subscribers are provided with Microsoft’s experts and AI-powered threat detection tools.

In a video released by Microsoft, they have shown their logo with Apple and Tux in PCs. There is no official mention for Linux, but since Tux is Linux’s mascot, so it is possible for Microsoft to make defender available in as many platforms. Previously Microsoft’s office was made available in MacOS, which is now also available for android and ios. One thing that Microsoft has realised that consumers now have multiple devices which are needed to have proper security. Thus they have decided to expand its availability.

The company has termed Microsoft defender as ‘unified endpoint security platform.’ Recently they have also released chrome and firefox extensions for this software. For consumer version, the window’s defender has been proved to be the best antivirus programme in a recent lab test. Microsoft defender will run in macOS Mojave, Highsierra and Sierra. Additionally, Microsoft has also developed a mac interface to replicate the user experience of the windows version, and Mac users will be able to report threats online. Microsoft defender will face competition from Mac’s antivirus software and Apple’s builtin X-protect antivirus software. Business users who are already using Microsoft’s windows defender ATP can sign up for Mac beta version, and they can even request a quotation regarding the cost of the full production. Thus this huge news from Microsoft has created the buzz in the market, and hopefully, it can continue positively.
